The Studio Robert Juchem
Since more than 60 years Robert Juchem is known as one of the best adresses in handcarved animal sculptures, human sculptures, flowers and objets d´art made of gemstones. They are also specialised in carving objects in Fabergé style – this can only be realized by very skilled artists!
In the third generation they are creating in their studio out of excellent rough stones sculptures which every piece is a unique! There is always a difference in style, size, colour and structure of the stones.
Not only lovers of fine art prefer unicates from Robert Juchem, also museums, galleries, collectors from all over the world estimate their creations! For each unicate which is sold, a certificate guarantees the autenticity of the object d´art, and it also gives a description of the different rough stones which are used, as well as the name of the artist.
The art of carving sculptures
How Sculptures are made
Before working, the chosen rough stone is carefully proofed in the factory. After this the difficult process of carving can be started:
- The rough and outer form of the imagined sculpture is painted on the rough stone.
- With diamond saw blades the stone is roughly cut.
- The stone is cut with Silicium Carbid saw blade, which is called the “rough cut”.
- Now the quality of the stone is checked a second time. If there are visible cracks or mistakes, the stone is useless.
- Now the fine cut is done, which is the most important part of each object. Many days are spend on carving the details of an object. Diamond tools are used for this jobs, nearly the same as a dentist uses!
- Then the object becomes a nice shimmer while polishing it with special brushes and pastes.
Finally the object is finished and checked again, maybe eyes will be glued in, or it is fixed on base. This work of art needs about between 8 days and somtimes months until it is completly finished! For creating objects in gemstones the artist needs a lot of feeling and talent to be successful!
